About This Course

In this course, you will gain an in-depth understanding of the three primary axes of an aircraft—longitudinal, lateral, and vertical—and how they relate to roll, pitch, and yaw.

You will explore static and dynamic stability, learning how positive, neutral, and negative stability influence flight behavior. We will cover pitching moments, explaining how force imbalances affect nose-up and nose-down tendencies, and examine how different types of stability—longitudinal, directional, and lateral—work together to ensure safe and predictable flight. You will also learn why some aircraft, like aerobatic planes and fighter jets, are intentionally designed with reduced stability to enhance maneuverability.
