In this lesson, we’re taking a high-speed journey inside a jet engine to discover how it takes in air, mixes it with fuel, sets it on fire (safely!), and blasts it out the back to launch airplanes forward at incredible speeds.
You'll learn about the Brayton cycle, explore each engine part’s job, and see why jet engines are one of the greatest inventions in aviation history.In this thrilling lesson, you'll explore the inner workings of aircraft engines—how they take in air and fuel, turn tiny explosions into powerful motion, and push planes across continents and oceans.
You’ll also travel back in time to meet the inventor of the Otto Cycle and learn how the same technology in car engines helps aircraft fly.
